MEET LILLIAN
I’m Lillian Pau, the founder and designer behind Rhapsody in Gold. My relationship with jewellery began at home, through the women in my family and the meaningful pieces they wore and kept.
Over time, that personal connection grew into a career spanning design, craftsmanship, production, and buying. Today, I bring those experiences together to create jewellery that connects heritage with the way we live now.
A lifelong connection to meaningful adornment
My fascination with jewellery began in childhood. The pieces I encountered through my family—from blessed pendants to vintage treasures—were never simply accessories. They held memories, emotions, and stories. That early understanding continues to shape the way I design today. I believe jewellery becomes most valuable when it carries something personal.
A foundation in design and craftsmanship
After graduating from Central Saint Martins, I developed my skills through hands-on work at the bench, learning traditional jewellery techniques and exploring unconventional materials and forms. That experience taught me to look beyond convention—to consider not only how a piece is made, but how it feels, moves, and becomes part of someone’s life.
An experienced eye for quality
My work with designers including Lara Bohinc and Solange Azagury-Partridge, followed by my experience as a buyer at Lane Crawford, gave me a broad understanding of jewellery—from design and production to materials, finish, and wearability. These experiences continue to guide the decisions behind every Rhapsody in Gold piece. I look for the balance between thoughtful design, lasting materials, and the details that make a piece feel truly special.
